What we’ve been up to #2
And again… for some reason my last post only showed the 1st week! Urgh! Technology!
Mainly maths games this week to introduce Paddy to, and improve Niamh’s knowledge of, addition and subtraction. Enjoyed and participated well.
Incorporated writing into other subjects this week. Niamh’s writing continues to be neat, although at times with effort. Paddy continues to recognise letters and form many of them independently.
Continued with Ladybird early readers to again gauge reading levels. Will have a trip to the library next week to get books at an appropriate level.
BBC Schools online songs and games. Basic Vocab and numbers 0 – 6.
Ancient Egypt was replaced this week by Notable Day. Mini unit – Anniversary of Scott reaching the Antarctic.
The Jumblies, Edward Lear. Enjoyed this immensely. Listened attentively. Told their own versions back to me and drew several pictures of what a Jumbly looks like. Niamh also drew a picture of the Jumblies in their sieve.
Picasso, Child with Dove. Observed and discussed. Showed little interest in the colouring sheets. Will return to Picasso at a later date.
Carbon Dioxide and Bubbles discussed and began making a paper mache volcano.
Niamh demonstrated understanding during the discussion of chemical reactions and acids and alkalis.
